The Eminent Video Music Awards (EVMAs), founded in 2016 by the dynamic Sir Dumisani Khanyile, a prominent artist and businessman in the entertainment industry, serve as a significant platform for musicians across South Africa. The EVMAs celebrate the talents of artists spanning various genres, from legendary performers to emerging talents, as well as producers and directors of outstanding music videos and television shows that highlight fresh talent.
Dedicated to promoting and celebrating these talents, the EVMAs are not merely a competition but an event that honors the hard work and achievements of South African musicians and companies. The awards were established to recognize excellence among both established and upcoming musicians.
We aim to provide mentorship, exposure, promotion, and celebration of the entertainment industry. By bringing together diverse African ethnic and racial groups, we combat tribalism and other divisive measures, fostering unity through our rich musical heritage.
The EVMAs encompass musicians from various genres across all nine provinces of South Africa. Guided by the principles of inclusivity and peer-to-peer recognition, our primary objective is to encourage, equip, motivate, educate, and inspire South African artists—from legends to newcomers—to strive for excellence.
The EVMAs are a glamorous event where South African artists and other stakeholders, including musicians, television shows, comedians, editors, stylists, producers, and directors of music videos, are recognized and awarded for their contributions to the entertainment industry. We seek to honor those who produce high-standard music videos and content, promote professionalism in the music industry, and build capacity in various areas of focus.
